Code of Conduct for Dinton Cricket Club Members and Guests
All Members and Guests of Dinton Cricket Club will: -
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of Cricket
- Treat everyone equally are not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, parental or marital status, religious belief, class or social background, sexual preference or political belief.
- Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination if witnessed.
- Display high standards of behaviour.
- Promote the positive aspect of Cricket eg fair play
- Encourage all participants to learn the Laws and rules and play within them, respecting the decisions of match officials.
- Actively discourage unfair play, rule violations and arguing with match officials.
- Recognise good performance not just match results.
- Place the well being and safety of Young People above the development of performance.
- Ensure the activates are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individual.
- Respect Young People’s opinions when making decisions about their participation in Cricket.
- Not provide Young People with Alcohol when they are under the case of the club.
- Follow ECB guidelines set out in the ‘Safe hands – Cricket Policy for Safeguarding Children’ and any other relevant guideline issues.
- Report any concerns in relation to a Young Person, following reporting procedures laid down by the ECB.
- In addition to the above, all Club Officers and Appointed Volunteers will hold relevant qualifications and be covered by appropriate insurance.
- Always work in an open environment
- Inform players and parents of the requirements of Cricket
- Know and understand the ECB’s ‘Safe Hands – Cricket’s policy for Safeguarding Children’
Code of Conduct for Young People
- All members must play with in the laws, rules and sprite of Cricket
- All members must respect the right, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
- Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competition.
- Members must wear suitable kit for training and match sessions, as agreed with the coach or team manager.
- Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly along with annual subs promptly.
- All junior members must adhere to the rules of the pavilion as set by the recreation trustees these can be seen on the pavilion notice board.
Code of Conduct for Parents/Carers
- Encourage your child to learn the laws and Sprite of Cricket and to play within them.
- Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
- Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results
- Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performance of all.
- Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
- Publicly accept officials’ judgements
- Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport
- Use correct and proper language at all times
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR COACHES
The essence of good ethical conduct and practice is summarised below:
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all members, officials and volunteers at all times.
- Treat everyone equally regardless of age, sex, ethnic origin, religion, political persuasion, sexual orientation or physical disability.
- Consider the well being and safety of participants before the development of performance.
- Develop an appropriate working relationship with performers, based on mutual trust and respect.
- Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
- Promote the positive aspects of the sport and the sprite of cricket.
- Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
- Follow all guidelines laid down by the ECB coaches’ code of conduct and child protection policy.
- Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover.
- Never exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward.
- Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substances.
- Encourage performers to value their performances and not just results.
